Trapped in Zone One
Trapped in Zone One will host a creative workshop at All Points East's In The Neighbourhood, creating a cultural themed artwork, inspired by South Asian Heritage Month.
Through creativity we’ll explore the theme of South Asian culture bringing a traditional artform of Alpona in a group-based workshop promoting cultural identity and connecting communities through creativity.
Alpona, is a traditional Bengali art form characterised by colourful, hand-drawn motifs and patterns typically made with rice paste on floors and walls, especially during festivals and auspicious occasions. It is derived from the Sanskrit word "alimpan," meaning "to coat" or "plaster," reflecting the process of applying the paste.
Trapped in Zone One is a London based community focused creative organisation, with a passion for the arts and culture. Their aim is to engage with young people and the wider community, building relationships to improve the health and wellbeing of diverse communities through creative practices, working alongside young people in schools, hosting workshops, curating public murals, via a diverse range of partnerships with local and national organisations.
